Who is Hypnos For?

Hypnos is for people who have a lot of albums and songs on their computer and want to listen to them without any headaches. It is similar to Foobar2000 or Winamp. It is not anything like iTunes or Spotify.

Setup and Running

Windows

Run the installer, and then launch Hypnos from the start menu.

Windows 7+ supported. It will probably work on Vista, but I haven't tested there yet. XP and earlier not supported.

There is no shell integration yet, but I'll have that in a future version.

Linux

Download the .AppImage, make it executable (chmod a+x Hypnos*.AppImage), and double click. Or run at the console with ./Hypnos*.AppImage. That's it.

If you would like desktop shell integration, just install the appimage daemon. It's very easy: How to setup appimaged.

OSX

OSX not supported for the time being. I don't have an OSX development / testing machine, and seeing all of the small bugs I had to fix in windows made me convinced that it's not responsible to write software for an OS that I can't test on myself. I'd like to work on an OSX version and I bet it wouldn't be too hard to get Hypnos running well there, but I need regular access to the platform to do that.

Bug Reports

Please send any bug reports to me here. Please include a description of what happened, what you were doing just before the bug happened, any steps I can take to reproduce the bug, and a copy of the log file, which you can get from the config directory or by exporting in the settings window.
